POWER-GEN and DistribuTECH Africa 2018 will be staged at the Sandton Convention Centre from 17 – 19 July 2018. Themed ‘Powering up a continent’, the annual event brings together up to 3 000 key industry stakeholders from across Africa and abroad for three days of high-level debate and analysis.

Circuit breakers are automatically operated electrical switches that are designed to protect electrical circuits from damage due to overload or short circuit. The basic function of the circuit breaker is to identify a fault and then interrupt the flow of current. All circuit breakers have common features in how they work, but specifications vary substantially depending on the voltage class, current rating and type of circuit breaker.

Hard work produces results

Theo Mashego, managing director of Unidrive Electric Motors, took his place at the helm of the company shortly after it was acquired by Ayanda at Work. From a precarious financial position at that time (around 2013), Unidrive Electric Motors saw its turnover growing in double digits between 2015 and 2016, with further growth in 2017.

The 2018 Women in Energy Conference, an interactive side event of the African Energy Indaba (AEI) will take place on the 19th February 2018 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The fourth annual event of its kind, the conference aims to increase leadership and the development of women involved in the African energy space.

From smart homes to smart cars – and smart everything in between – the Internet of Things (IoT) is promising to change every element of our lives. We are entering a world where our alarm clock triggers the coffee pot to start brewing and tells the tiles in the bathroom to heat up; a world where our water meters can tell the municipality when there is a leak; a world where the IoT allows us (and our doctors) to monitor our health all day, every day.
